Kleinfelder Celebrates Fifth Year of Operations in Australia

WARNERS BAY, New South Wales – Kleinfelder, a global engineering, science, and design consulting firm, announced today that July 2015 marks the company’s fifth year of operating in Australia. In that short time, the company’s offices in Adelaide, Mackay, Melbourne, and Warners Bay have grown to employ more than 100 engineers and scientists, a 60 percent increase in staff.

Five years ago, Kleinfelder opened its Melbourne office to serve the energy market. In 2012, Kleinfelder acquired Ecobiological Group—a New South Wales (NSW) firm specializing in environmental assessment and remediation services—followed by the acquisition of Alliance Environmental Engineering & Consulting. Since then, Kleinfelder has grown significantly with new and existing clients, particularly in the energy market

“Our Australian strategy has been an exciting and fruitful journey,” says Kleinfelder President and Chief Executive Officer Bill Siegel, who visited the country this week. “Since 2012, Kleinfelder has expanded both its service lines and market visibility to reach clients throughout Australia and the broader Pacific region. As we look to Kleinfelder’s future in Australia, our priorities are threefold: driving growth, creating jobs, and building relationships.”

Siegel adds, “There are now more than 100 people employed by Kleinfelder across Australia, representing a 60 percent increase since our first acquisition of Ecobiological Group. These professionals span a range of disciplines, including ecology, land management, bushfire engineering, and contaminated land specialists.”

Kleinfelder’s rapid growth reflects the company’s expertise and proven track record of delivering projects on time and on budget, as evidenced on several recent large projects, including:

  • Pre-clearance and fauna spotter catcher services for QGC’s Liquid Natural Gas (LNG) pipeline in Queensland
  • Decades-long monitoring of three mines in the Hunter Valley operated by Yancoal
  • Provision of ecological services to facilitate the development of AGL’s Gas Storage Facility in Newcastle
  • Management and vegetation land surrounding Mangoola Open Cut Mine in NSW
  • Remediation of several major oil and gas facilities across Australia

Kleinfelder has been executing a strategic growth plan since 1992. Providing engineering, environmental, and design services has been, and will continue to be, an important aspect of overall company growth. During the last two decades, Kleinfelder has demonstrated a strong momentum of global expansion, now having 70 offices in the United States, Australia, and Canada. The company has more than 53 years of experience providing engineering, science, and design solutions to numerous clients, both in Australia and worldwide.

Siegel adds, “To Kleinfelder’s employees and clients, current and future, it has been a wonderful period of growth and achievements. We’ve done amazing things together in Australia, and the best is yet to come.”
