Kleinfelder Names Michael Foster Contaminated Land Service Line Director

SAN DIEGO, California – Kleinfelder announced that Michael Foster, PhD, PG, has been named Contaminated Land Service Line Director, effective immediately. In his new role, Foster is responsible for leading and growing a multidisciplinary team of engineers and scientists working in the areas of environmental site characterization, environmental data management, hydrogeology and site remediation. He is also responsible for advising clients and enhancing the service line visibility nationally and internationally.

The announcement was made by Kleinfelder’s Chief Technical Officer Daniel (Dan) Harpstead, to whom Foster will report directly.

“Michael has a profound understanding of the complex environmental and regulatory world in which our clients operate, and is uniquely suited to anticipate trends and quickly respond to changes in the environmental consulting industry. I am very grateful that he is willing to take on this challenging new role.” says Harpstead.

Foster moves up from his position as the Southern California Coastal Regional Manager, where he played a central role in developing energy, government, and transportation business in southern California. Prior to that, he served as Kleinfelder’s U.S. Navy client account manager, and as deputy program manager on the Navy CLEAN contract. The Navy CLEAN program is a $100 million, five-year contract with Naval Facilities Engineering Command Southwest (NAVFAC SW), currently in its sixth year. He has over 27-years of environmental consulting experience.

“My aim is to make Kleinfelder’s environmental consulting services the best in the industry,” says Foster. “We will be focused on continuous development and sharing/networking of our technical skills and know how to provide our client’s the right solutions to their challenges.”

Kleinfelder provides a wide array of environmental science and engineering services, including chemical data management, environmental due diligence, environmental remediation, site characterization, and groundwater assessment and remediation, groundwater resources advocacy, and groundwater supply, sourcing and rehabilitation.
