Deborah Butera Joins Kleinfelder as Senior Associate General Counsel

SAN DIEGO, California – Deborah Butera has joined Kleinfelder as Senior Associate General Counsel, effective July 18, 2016. She will be located at Kleinfelder’s corporate headquarters in San Diego.

Deborah recently served as Senior Vice President, General Counsel, Chief Compliance Officer and Corporate Secretary of a San Diego-based publicly traded company, where she had responsibility for the legal, contracts, trade compliance, human capital management, and security functions.

Prior to that position, Deborah was a partner with a leading construction law firm in Atlanta, where she served as the Chair of the Atlanta Bar Association’s Construction Law Section and was also active in the American Bar Association’s Forum on the Construction Industry.

Deborah has experience in corporate governance, risk management, securities law, finance transactions, debt restructuring, mergers and acquisitions, intellectual property, regulatory compliance, commercial and government contracting, litigation management, employee relations, and management and budgeting.

Among her accomplishments, Deborah was recognized as San Diego’s 2015 General Counsel of the Year in the medium-sized public company category by the San Diego Business Journal.  She has been a frequent public speaker on topics such as contract negotiation and dispute resolution strategies.

Deborah is a member of the Association of Corporate Counsel, the Corporate Directors Forum, and the American Bar Association. Deborah graduated from The Ohio State University with a B.S. in Business Administration before graduating with her J.D. with highest honors from Capital University Law School.
