Kleinfelder Vice President of Sustainability Lisa Dickson is Panelist at Forecasting Our Climate Future at National Geographic Society

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Kleinfelder—a global engineering, architecture, and science consulting firm— has announced that its Vice President of Sustainability, Lisa Dickson, will be a panelist at an upcoming event entitled “Forecasting Our Climate Future: A Conversation with Dr. Katharine Hayhoe about Climate Change and Extreme Weather in DC.”

Held in the National Geographic Society’s Washington Bureau located at 1600 M St., NW, Washington, DC on March 11, 2015 from 6-8 pm, the climate change panel is touted as a forum for climate experts, policy makers and adaptation specialists to discuss how best to communicate with affected communities about the risks posed by climate change and how to translate climate science into action. The event is free and open to the public.

Moderated by Dr. Katherine Hayhoe, a world-renowned climate scientist featured in in the Emmy Award-winning documentary The Years of Living Dangerously, and one of TIME magazine’s 100 Most Influential People, Dickson will join three other panelists—including Dennis Dimick, Executive Editor, National Geographic Magazine; Jason Samenow, Weather Editor, The Washington Post; and Tommy Wells, Director, District Department of the Environment.

Dickson is an expert at translating the science of climate change into real-world, implementable actions that build resiliency into both the built and social environments. Kleinfelder’s approach to climate risk is already being utilized by organizations throughout the United States, including the City of Cambridge, Massachusetts, Logan International Airport, the District of Columbia and the Army National Guard, amongst others.

Developed alongside a team of academia, Kleinfelder’s climate services represent an industry-leading method of ranking and prioritizing climate change vulnerabilities across a variety of assets and systems, including infrastructure, the natural environment, and public health. The rankings are translated into prioritized action plans that consider the tolerance for risk, availability of resources and overall economic impacts.
