When U.S. company Asplundh engaged Kleinfelder to review their Australian Operations (Asplundh Region 130) Wildfire Prevention Plan, Kleinfelder provided a professional review of current bushfire safety and prevention practices along with a set of recommendations and solutions for further improvement.

Aligning Independent Assessments

Kleinfelder acted as an industry expert on this project, providing insight into best practices for wildfire prevention and risk management. Kleinfelder was tasked with providing independent assessments for managerial and operational parts of the business, paying particular attention to the details and nuances of each and tailoring recommendations to meet different sets of objectives. Kleinfelder needed to first audit both operational bushfire safety objectives and management objectives, then provide recommendations in a manner that best aligned both sets of goals.

Cohesive Companywide Solutions

Kleinfelder performed a complete audit of both operational bushfire safety, management processes, and other relevant matter—including a full evaluation of Asplundh internal guidelines, policies and procedures, related to customer-specific guidelines, state and federal legislation for bushfire safety and prevention, and work health and safety law. The team then developed sets of solutions that were specific to each assessment, but also fit in with Asplundh’s management objectives and provided a cohesive companywide Wildfire Prevention Plan.

Project Results

Beyond helping Asplundh operate with improved bushfire preparedness (and managing risk) in the future, Kleinfelder provided detailed one-time recommendations and solutions and also gave the client a better understanding of managing a companywide Wildfire Prevention Plan—leaving the client with a greater institutional knowledge base that would cut costs for years to come.
