As part of the development approval, Kleinfelder was engaged to undertake creek line jute matting, revegetation, and weed control along a section that was cleared by the developer and required revegetation. The creek line was reshaped, with installation of jute matting (880m2) and approximately 3,000 native plants.
Preventing the Jute Matting from Being Pushed Down
The creek line was at the base of a catchment and, during rainstorm events, a large volume of water would flow through the creek. The major challenge of this project isto ensure successful establishment of the plants in a highly disturbed environment.
An Innovative Resolution
To remedy this problem, Kleinfelder undertakes regular maintenance, removing weeds and rubbish that impacts the creek line.
Project Results
As part of the work, the creek banks were stabilized with the rock and jute matting, and the creek line was fully revegetated with native plants, versus unsightly concrete. This enabled our client to achieve their consent approval and proceed with development, while also receiving its monetary deposits back. Furthermore, Kleinfelder has a two-year maintenance program to maintain the creek line, helping our client maintain its positive relationship with regulatory authorities and the community.
