Kleinfelder seconded two members of the Environmental Management team to assist Acciona’s Environmental and Sustainability (E&S) team during construction of the Gawler Rail Electrification Project (GREP), a $715 million electrification and modernisation of the 42 kilometer (km) Gawler rail line network.


Secondment Particulars

  • Implementation and management of project environmental management systems, including the submission of contractually required reports
  • Development and review of Environmental Management Plans
  • Communication of environmental matters to project teams and assistance to meet on-site environmental compliance requirements
  • Undertaking site inspections to meet contract requirements and subsequent maintenance of comprehensive environmental records
  • Coordination of monitoring activities for dust, noise, vibration, heritage finds, and/or soil environmental testing
  • Response to environmental incidents and supporting project crews to remediate site following an incident
  • Fauna and pest management on site
  • Vegetation impact data management and planting initiatives
  • Engagement with construction verifier, DIT, and regulatory bodies.

Project Results

Kleinfelder’s employees were critical members of the client’s E&S team and were trusted to lead the environmental management components of the GREP. They attended various sites and ensured environmental management controls and conditions met regulatory requirements.

Kleinfelder’s role in leading the environmental management of the GREP enabled Acciona’s E&S manager flexibility to undertake critical commercial obligations.
